John Chibnall was the founding chairman of the NZ Marine Research Foundation and was also a long-standing supporter of New Zealand Sport Fishing. Just prior to his death in 2022 we had a conversation with John about his career and the story of his life.

John was a past President of the Bay of Islands Swordfish Club, Past President of the NZ Sport Fishing Council, a member of the Hawaiian Billfish Association, an IGFA rep for many years and was inducted into the IGFA Hall of Fame. John also achieved the NZ Order of Merit for his work with fishing.
